PhD projects with opportunities for a top-up stipend

Through the new Strategic  Research Australian Postgraduate Awards (STAPA) scholarship scheme, the following PhD projects are available with the possibility of a top-up stipend (Details of how to apply):

Intracellular trafficking and function of the membrane receptor FcRn which prolongs the serum half-life of novel therapeutic proteins (A collaborative project with CSL)

Congratulations to Michael Parker

Michael ParkerHonorary staff member Professor Michael Parker has received the Ramaciotti Medal for Excellence in Biomedical Research. Findings from his research, which involves the application of protein crystallography to understanding the structure of proteins, have been used in the design of drugs for the potential treatment of a number of human diseases, including Alzheimer’s, leukaemia and other cancers.

Honours scholarships

The department has made available scholarships of $5,000 for students in the 2012 Honours intake. All students with a 3rd year average of 85 or above will be guaranteed a scholarship. In addition, a limited number of scholarships will be offered to students with an average between 80-85. It is expected that at least eight (8) scholarships will be offered in 2012.
