About the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. It offers diverse subjects to students enrolled in many different degree courses, covering optometry, dental science, medicine, biomedical science and science.

In addition, the department is prominent in several areas of international research, most of which is performed at the Bio21 Institute.

Departmental expertise covers many areas, including protein structure and function, neurological diseases, molecular microbiology, intracellular protein targeting and signal transduction.
